CIA Linux¶
RHEL 6 EOL November 30th¶
RHEL 6, first released in November 2010, is about to end the Phase 2 Maintenance support, thus marking it as End of Life.
If you have not yet begun migrating your servers to RHEL 7, please do so ASAP.
GitLab Upgraded to 13.5¶
GitLab has been upgraded to version 13.5.
You can see the release notes for full details on the new features and changes.
GitLab License Change (delayed)¶
This work was scheduled for October however due to unforeseen bugs in the GitLab licensing platform, the work has been moved to November.
The license will be changed on November 30th.
Satellite 6.7 in Development¶
In an effort to upgrade our ageing Satellite infrastructure, we now have a Satellite 6.7 Development infrastructure in place.
This is the first step allowing us to work on replacing our Puppet modules with Ansible roles, as well as work on RHEL 8 acceptance testing.
RHEL 8 OS Acceptance Testing¶
RHEL 8 will be undergoing the OS Acceptance testing process.
This will ensure that once we move Satellite 6.7 into production, we will be well situated to begin deploying and supporting RHEL 8 servers.
Migration of RHEL 6 Mail Servers to RHEL 7¶
The remaining 2 servers in our RHEL mail server in the on-premise email routing tiers will be migrated to RHEL 7 servers due to the RHEL 6 EOL
MariaDB on dvhost.it.mcgill.ca Upgrade¶
The MariaDB on dvhost.it.mcgill.ca will be upgraded from 10.1 to 10.3.

DDI Upgrade to 7.2.2¶
The Efficient IP DDI appliance was upgraded from version 7.1.2 to 7.2.2 on November 4th.
GitLab Infrastructure Refresh (ongoing)¶
GitLab will be moved from a RHEL 6 server to a RHEL 7 server. You can track the process on the GitLab issue.
VAS to SSSD migrations (ongoing)¶
CIA Linux will continue the migration away from QAS/VAS authentication towards SSSD.

CIA Windows¶
2FA for MyCourses¶
2FA was enabled on MyCourses, with an option to "remember me for 60 days". The implementation happened on October 31st 11pm, taking effect on November 1st.
On-premise Public Folders to Office 365 Migration¶
There will be a migration of Public Folders from on-premises Exchange 2010 to Microsoft Office365 on the 6th of November.
